How to Calculate Days Manually

No calculator? Here’s how to count days to Halloween by hand:

Method 1: Simple Subtraction

If today is in October 2025:

• Subtract today’s date from 31.
• Example: On October 1, 2025, 31 - 1 = 30 days.

If today is before October 2025:

• Add remaining days in the current month, days in months until September, plus 31 days in October.
• Example: On June 17, 2025, 13 days (June) + 31 (July) + 31 (August) + 30 (September) + 31 (October) = 136 days.

Enter this formula in a cell to get days from today:

=DATE(2025, 10, 31) - TODAY()

Or, from a specific date (e.g., in cell A1):
